Confucius said of Meng Gong Chuo: “He is excellent as a steward for great families, but not fit to be a minister for small states.”

Meng Gong Chuo is more than fit to be chief officer in the families of Zhao and Wei, but he is not fit to be great officer to either of the States Teng or Xue.

孟公绰,为赵魏老则优,不可以为滕薛大夫。
