The Unbending Arrow: Confucius on the Virtue of Steadfast Straightforwardness

Confucius praised: “Straight as an arrow was Shi Yu, in both orderly and chaotic times.”

Truly straightforward was the historiographer Yu. When good government prevailed in his state, he was like an arrow. When bad government prevailed, he was like an arrow.

直哉史鱼!邦有道,如矢;邦无道,如矢。
