Confucius on the Poison of Hidden Resentment: The Deception of Feigned Friendship

Confucius said: To hide your resentment and pretend to be friendly is conduct that Zuo Qiu Ming and I are ashamed of.

To conceal resentment against a person, and appear friendly with him – Zuo Qiu Ming was ashamed of such conduct. I also am ashamed of it.

匿怨而友其人,左丘明耻之,丘亦耻之。
