Confucius on the Unyielding Noble: “The Superior Man is Steadfast in Want”

Confucius said in adversity: “The noble man remains steadfast in hardship; the small man falls into chaos.”

The superior man may indeed have to endure want, but the mean man, when he is in want, gives way to unbridled license.
