The Art of Friendship: Faithful Admonition, Timely Stop

Confucius said on friendship: “Give faithful advice and good guidance. If that doesn’t work, stop. Do not disgrace yourself.”

Faithfully admonish your friend, and skillfully lead him on. If you find him impracticable, stop. Do not disgrace yourself.

忠告而善道之,不可则止,无自辱焉。
