The Discerning Mind: Confucius on Separating the Speaker from the Speech

Confucius said: “A gentleman does not promote a man for his words alone, nor reject sound words because of the man.”

The superior man does not promote a man simply on account of his words, nor does he put aside good words because of the man.

君子不以言举人,不以人废言。
