The Triad of the Harmful Friend: Confucius on the Flatterer, the Hypocrite, and the Silver-Tongued

Confucius warned: “Friendship with the flatterer, the hypocrite, and the silver-tongued is harmful.”

Friendship with the man of specious airs; friendship with the insinuatingly soft; and friendship with the glib-tongued – these are injurious.

友便辟,友善柔,友便佞,损矣。
