Confucius said of Guan Zhong: “He confiscated a fief, yet the man bore no resentment till his death.”

For him,” said the Master, “the city of Pian, with three hundred families, was taken from the chief of the Bo family, who though to the end of his life he had only coarse rice to eat did not utter a murmuring word.

人也。夺伯氏骈邑三百,饭疏食,没齿,无怨言。
