Two Paths: “Seeking Improvement” vs. “Craving Quick Success”

Confucius said of a youth: “He does not seek true improvement; he merely craves quick success.”

He is not one who is seeking to make progress in learning. He wishes quickly to become a man.

非求益者也,欲速成者也。
