Beyond the Obvious Choice: Confucius on Why “Learning” is a Wiser Bet Than “Plowing”

Confucius observed: “Plowing may still lead to hunger; learning can bring emolument.”

There is plowing – even in that there is sometimes want. So with learning – emolument may be found in it.

耕也,馁在其中矣;学也,禄在其中矣。
