The Final Hurdle to Excellence: Confucius on Why Even Good Motives Must Be Channeled Through Ritual

Confucius said: “To move the people not in accordance with ritual is not yet perfect goodness.”

If he try to move the people contrary to the rules of propriety – full excellence is not reached.

动之不以礼,未善也。
