The Knowing-Doing Gap: A Sage’s Confession of Practical Shortfall

Confucius said: In knowledge I may be like others, but in embodying the virtues of a superior man, I have not yet succeeded.

In letters I am perhaps equal to other men, but the character of the superior man, carrying out in his conduct what he professes, is what I have not yet attained to.

文,莫吾犹人也。躬行君子,则吾未之有得。
