The Received Physic: A Bow of Thanks, A Word of Caution

When Ji Kang sent medicine, Confucius bowed, accepted it, and said, “I do not understand it, so I dare not try it.”

Ji Kang having sent him a present of physic, he bowed and received it, saying, ‘I do not know it. I dare not taste it.’

康子馈药,拜而受之。曰:“丘未达,不敢尝。”
